Cacao Protein Oats with Caramelized Banana
Sometimes all you want is a cozy bowl of oatmeal and caramelized bananas.
Gluten Free. Includes Nuts & Dairy.
There are some mornings where I wake up and all I want is a COZY bowl of oats … and on this day, I really wanted to pair it with some delicious caramelized bananas and peanut butter (kind of chunky monkey flavor inspired).
This oatmeal recipe is so incredibly delicious, creamy and perfectly sweet while also being packed with 35g of protein!
The full recipe and ingredient list is below :)
Cacao Protein Oats with Caramelized Banana
Ingredients
quick cooking gluten free oats (this is the one I like)
milk of choice (I used fairlife 2% milk)
protein powder (I use vanilla isolate protein from BeWell by Kelly)
cacao powder
ground flax seeds
1 banana
butter
coconut sugar
cinnamon
creamy peanut butter
Instructions:
Add 3/4 cup of fairlife 2% milk (10g protein) and 1/4 cup water to the stove and bring to a boil. Once boiling, add 1/2 cup (6g protein) of quick cooking gluten free oats and move to a simmer.
Keep stirring oats and add 1 tablespoon ground flaxseeds (1g protein), 1 tablespoon cacao powder (2g protein), 1/2 scoop of protein powder (12g protein) and lots of cinnamon. Stir until fully cooked (about 6-8 mins).
Chop 3/4 of a banana into coins.
In a separate pan, add 1/2 to 1 tbsp of butter and melt over medium heat. Add banana coins, add 1/2 tbsp of coconut sugar and lots of cinnamon. Hold handle of pan and move it around to make sure that all bananas are coated. Cook each side on medium heat for 2-3 min, until caramelized and golden.
Plate oatmeal (31g protein), top with caramelized banana, 1 tbsp peanut butter (4g protein) and more cinnamon.
Enjoy!!
I hope this breakfast recipe sets you up to feel fueled, cozy and nourished :)
With love,
